The main aim of our farm shop is to support local producers. Sitting within the farm shop are our butcher and deli counters. Our shop is set out using recycled tractor tyres as display bays in fitting with our ethos.
We sell a lot of our own Cross Lanes products in the shop including freshly baked organic bread, an extensive range of frozen nutritious ready meals, cakes, traybakes, meringues, biscuits, preserves, salads and pies. All made by our chefs, bakers and kitchen team in our organic kitchens.
The farm shop stocks an extensive range of products including organic, locally produced, ethical and many healthy, dietary alternatives. We source products where possible as locally as we can to minimise food miles. Where required products are sourced from further afield, enabling us to stock the shelves with a wide range of goods from suppliers who share the same commitment to sustainability and quality as we do.
Dairy Products stocked in our farm shop, used in our kitchen and served in our restaurant are sourced from Acorn Dairy. These include fresh organic milk, cream and butter.
Eggs come from our nearest supplier of organic eggs, Harry’s Eggs from Piercebridge.
The Deli counter stocks over 60 cheeses including a range of organic, local and traditional varieties. Our most local cheeses are Teesdale Cheesemakers and Cotherstone Cheese. We stock tasty organic olives and salami alongside our own cooked beef and ham. You can also purchase take out sandwiches, home made pies and salads from our deli.
Fruit & Vegetables are mainly sourced from The Organic Pantry at Tadcaster. We also use Organic North Wholesalers allowing us to provide a much wider offering of organic fruit, vegetables and herbs. Occasionally we purchase products from the Clervaux Trust in Darlington, although their products are very limited and seasonal. It is always rewarding to mix our own homegrown produce from the greenhouse into the shop display when we have sufficient stocks.
